Nowadays, employers find is easier to post jobs on the net so internet access is a must. If you have no luck finding a job in your local newspaper, try a couple of the links that are listed below and check if they have anything listed that you’re interested in or qualified for. If you cannot find something you’re interested in or don’t have a preference, look up a local agency. Agency’s are a very good option and can usually place you somewhere in a short period of time.

Once you have found a job you want to apply for, you’re going to have to create a good resume. If you don’t have a resume already, Microsoft Office usually has a resume builder to help you out. If that doesn’t help much, search online for examples BUT DO NOT COPY! Try to make your resume as original as possible. If everything else fails, FedEx can make a resume for you but keep in mind,it may not turn out exactly the way you would like it to.

Once you have your resume ready, get yourself out there! Fax, mail, or personally deliver your resume to your potential employer. Follow up a couple of days later by giving them a phone call and asking if they’ve had a chance to review your resume. Make sure to come across as interested in the job and not pushy.

By this time, you should at least have one, if not more, interviews to prepare for. Make sure to keep calm and practice answering common questions potential employers ask. When the time of the interview comes around, make sure to have a good attitude. Also, make sure to keep good eye contact and a smile on your face. Showing you’re prepared can impress a potential employer, so go in there with your previous employer’s/emergency contact information i.e. address, names, phone numbers…etc.
